Applying automation to sample preparation. Experience of a specialised clinical cytometry laboratory with Sysmex’ PS-10

Specialized cytometry laboratories are facing several challenges: on one hand, a continuous increase in requests and for increasingly complex analyses, and on the other hand, stagnation or even a reduction in staff. Automation of the pre-analytical steps therefore becomes a necessity to both reduce manual tasks and to meet accreditation requirements.
Dr Vergez presents the results of comparisons between the manual preparation of samples and the automated preparation by the PS-10 sample preparation system of Sysmex, for the panels and sample types most frequently analysed in his laboratory (blood, bone marrow, blood pre-wash, quantification).
